Is natural gas safe?
Natural gas is one of the most environmentally friendly forms of energy as well as one of the safest. Natural gas equipment incorporates some of the most advanced safety devices and every natural gas installation is inspected by utility inspectors to ensure it meets all safety codes and requirements.
Over 6 million homes and businesses in Canada, including schools, hospitals, restaurants, churches and other public buildings are heated by natural gas.
Can I really save by using natural gas as my main energy source?
Natural gas is the most cost-efficient energy source available. Incentives are often available to help cover the initial conversion costs, and you will notice that your monthly expenditure on energy consumption drops significantly in most cases.
What is a gigajoule?
In New Brunswick and Canada, natural gas is normally measured in Gigajoules (GJ), the metric version of the British Thermal Unit (BTU). The amount of energy consumed each year in a typical Canadian home is equivalent to 135 gigajoules. One gigajoule is equivalent to roughly 30 liters of gasoline, 34 liters of propane, 26 liters of heating oil, and 278 kilowatt-hours of electricity.
